I had to chew on this one for a while, because I’ve faced most of these, such as starvation (in Morocco), people though, have been less threatening than animals (a cow with horns or a bull, well, I’m quite lousy at livestock identification, came close to goring me to death in Varanasi, India, definitely did some grotesque damage to my leg), and I’ve been so terribly lost a few times that I thought I’d have to sleep on the streets, but even in the dark, have miraculously always found my way to my hotel again. As for no job, well, I don’t work when I’m on the road, least not for money, but yes, I have been without a job for excessive periods, and this is probably more difficult than anything else. The waiting, the not being able to travel until I save some money up. Things can be rough on the road, but it’s always worth it.
